The Deceitful Heart
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9
As the above verse illustrates, God has an opinion about the condition of the hearts of all mankind; indeed, it is a dire depiction of the horrible truth that is echoed in dozens of verses throughout His holy Word.
Faced with the raw ugliness of our sinful state, man has the choice to rebel or repent—to futilely build his own stairway to heaven, or to fully receive the free gift of salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone.
Whether by religion, global military conquest, or both, history itself shows man's repeated failure to establish peace apart from his Creator. And as Bible prophecy further confirms, mankind's ongoing quest for utopia (whether by secular humanists or "kingdom-now" Christians) is not achievable or ushered in by created beings—but only by the King of kings and Lord of lords, Yeshua Ha Mashiach.
Using a number of different examples from history and Scripture, Dave Hunt expounds on this theme, which is key to understanding our past, present, and future as individuals—and for believers, as the Body of Christ.
